Lake Alpine Trout Lead Fall Angling Parade

ARNOLD - Lake Alpine has been producing the top trout fishing for anglers in the Ebbetts Pass Region . Both shore anglers and boaters are picking up lots of rainbows , reported Billl Reynolds of Ebbetts Pass Sporting Goods . The majority of fish are 12 to 14 inches long , but there some 5 to 7 pound fish in the mix , noted Reynolds . Bank anglers are doing best with Power Bait and nightcrawlers , while trollers are experiencing the top action on Wedding Rings and minnow imitation lures . Anglers fishing from kayaks and small boats at Spicer Reservoir are bagging beautiful rainbows . The lake level is now below the boat ramp . “ A couple buddies reported catching limits of trout from 14 to 16 inches long while trolling Wedding Rings and Apex lures at 30 feet on their latest trip to Spicer ,” said Reynolds . Limits are possible if you do the following : Trollers should work from Christie Campground up the west side to Wildcat point . Early on , troll shallow water 10-15 feet deep with surface running flies and smaller size minnow imitation plugs ( rapala types ). I use the black / silver . For flies use J Fair or Artic Fox in hot orange and tui chub patterns . As the morning wears on , move out to deeper water and troll red / gold Thomas Buoyant spoons at 10-15 feet deep . There are minnows working on the surface everywhere but the trout haven ’ t yet begun keying on minnows . When they do , a dark colored 2 or 3 inch grub trolled just below the minnow school should be effective , as well as the plugs and
