Early mornings are just fair to good with the best bite between 8-9am . We are seeing it slow way down after 10:00am . As the boat traffic increases and the wake board boats get on the water we tend to take off . We are trolling about 2-2.6 mph and using gold backed spoons and the typical sliver shad spoons . I have put one set-up with a dodger around 5 ’ in front of the lure . I run this one a bit deeper than the main set and it ’ s producing some bigger fish . During the early mornings , I have also tried a darker color silver backed spoon on one rod and this has produced so nice fish as well . We ’ re still not seeing or hearing any king salmon or kokanee being caught right now . Whiskey Town lake is definitely the best place to go for Kokanee . Most guys are limited out by 9:00am . Trollers Working For Their Kokes

TRUCKEE - Trollers are catching limits of kokanee salmon at Stampede , but they are working harder for them than in previous years . “ We ’ re catching limits and nearlimits of kokanee at Stampede , but we ’ re staying out later for them than we did last year ,” said James Netzel of Tight Lines Guide Service . “ The fish range between 13 and 16 inches , with an average size of 14- 1 / 2 inches , and are nice and fat .” “ We ’ re doing best with the Paulina Peak Top Gun Spinners in Moonjelly Pink and Moon Jelly Orange ,” said Netzel . “ The fish are hitting between 30 and 50 feet . This group fished with Barebones Guide Service on Bullards Bar and it only took a couple of hours to score limits of kokanee . They found most of the fish in 40-50 ft deep and used pink and orange hoochies and kokanee fly ’ s behind RB Tackle Dodgers .
