his latest fishing adventure on San Francisco Bay . “ We finished up with 10 limits ( 20 ) of quality halibut .” Captain James Smith of California Dawn Sportfishing reported excellent fishing for rockfish and lingcod and halibut outside of the Golden Gate on his latest trips . On August 4 , the California Dawn 2 returned to the dock with 25 limits of lingcod ( 50 ), 25 limits of lingcod ( 50 ), 6 halibut and 2 cabezon while fishing off the Marin County Coast . On the same day , the California Dawn 1 checked in with 18 limits of rockfish and 18 limits of lingcod . On August 3 , Smith reported “ some fantastic rockfish and lingcod action topped off with a handful of halibut on the way in .” The final count for the California Dawn 1 was 12 limits of rockfish , 12 limits of lingcod , 9 halibut , while the final count for the California Dawn2 was 25 limits of rockfish , 25 limits of lingcod and 6 halibut .

Rockfish Limits , Lingcod Boated Off San Mateo Coast

EL GRANADA – If you like to catch limits of big rockfish and some lingcod , now is a great time to fish off the San Mateo County Coast , since you can fish both the deep and shallow water . Fishing in the San Francisco Management Area between 38 ° 57.5 ’ N . latitude ( Point Arena ) and 37 ° 11 ’ N . latitude ( Pigeon Point ) is open to all depths from July 16 to December 31 . The 7 anglers aboard a rockfish trip on the Queen of Hearts on August 1 bagged 65 rockfish , 7 lingcod and 5 cabezon , according to Captain Wallace Klughers . The 6 anglers aboard the boat on August 1 caught 180 rockfish , 6 lingcod and 1 rock sole . “ Rockfishing has been excellent this season with limits of really nice fish available for anybody at the rail with a rod in hand who does what the crew says ,” confirmed Sherri Ingles at the Half Moon Bay Sportfishing Center . Captain Pete , has been targeting shallow water rockfish , as well as hosting the California Collaborative Fisheries Research Program ( CCFRP ). “ We had another great day on the water yesterday on our shallow water rockfish trip , and came in with limits of mainly bottom dwellers , with a few school fish mixed in , 5 lingcod , and 1 cabezon for our 8 anglers ,” reported Cabanas after his most recent shallow water adventure . The CCRP reported on their latest trip : “ Despite the Central Coast ’ s infamous month of ‘ Fogust ,,” clouds couldn ’ t stop our volunteer anglers from shining ! Today , the Moss Landing Marine Laboratories science crew and group of volunteer anglers made their way down to the MPA cells within Año Nuevo for another day of sampling . Aboard the F / V New Captain Pete with Captain Mike C . and Deckhand Dylan , our volunteer anglers caught and released 384 fishes from a season-high 18 different species !
