Los Vaqueros Reservoir
Heavy Trout Plants Raise Fishing Scores
LIVERMORE – A total of 7,000 pounds of Mt . Lassen trout were planted in Los Vaqueros in January and more plants are slated for February . The reservoir received 2,000 pounds of Mt . Lassen trout on Tuesday , January 30 , 2024 . Congratulations go to Albert and Ray Rufino of Fairfield for limiting out on trout at Los Vaqueros while using Powerbait in Cowboy Cove . Big fish honors also go to Eliseo Lujano for bagging an 8.4-pound trout while in the south cove using corn PowerBait . Bank anglers continue to hook striped bass while tossing out anchovies in the South Cove and off the fishing pier and south cove . The keeper fish average 18 to 21 inches long . Anglers targeting channel cats are fishing chicken livers in the South Cove and elsewhere on the lake . The catfish being caught average 2 to 5 pounds , but bigger fish are out there swimming in the lake . The water temperature is currently 56 degrees and the water level is

Spotted Bass Offer Solid Sport
OROVILLE – Spotted bass fishing is your top angling prospect at Lake Oroville now , since king salmon fishing remains very slow Dave Koistinen reported very good spotted bass on his latest trip to Oroville . “ Oroville is putting out some nice size spots right now .,” said Koistnen . “ I was up in the middle fork today trolling a 3 inch zman smelt swimbait in 20 to 30 ft . of water . Get your bait on or near bottom 3 / 16 oz dart head jig .” The Bidwell Canyon , Spillway , Loafer Creek , Lime Saddle and Enterprise boat ramps are all open to launching , according to the Lake Oroville State Recreation Area . The Foreman Creek , Nelson Bar and Stringtown car top ramps are also open to boat launching . Lake Oroville is holding 22,704,434 acre feet of water , 76 percent of capacity and 98 percent of average .
