COLLINS LAKE , CA – As we have transitioned into Spring the surface temperatures have been increasing , daylight hours have extended , trout activity has been rapidly increasing with lots of stringers of trophy trout being caught along with good numbers of bass and more lurking in the shallows of the lake . However , please note that the lake is currently at full pool , management is planting huge scores of trout , and on April 13th the highly anticipated NorCal Trout Anglers Challenge derby will take place out of the Collins Lake facility too . However , you should also note that the fast approaching NTAC event is open to the public , it provides a great experience for anglers of all skill levels as there is an adult , youth and kids division with an inexpensive entry fee ( with advanced registration , adults are $ 30 and kids are FREE ), great raffle prizes and an atmosphere that makes for a fun day at the lake for the entire family .
