to launch immediately following decontamination . Should a vessel be decontaminated at another facility or by another entity , that decontamination will not be valid unless a seal is applied to the vessel . Upon exit from the Lake , all vessels must have a seal attached by authorized staff to be allowed to freely launch at Lake Berryessa . Otherwise , the vessel will need to undergo another quarantine period or decontamination . Hand launched watercraft with electric motors like fishing kayaks , require an inspection prior to launch . Non-motorized watercraft , such as kayaks and paddleboards , are not subject to inspection and are encouraged to be inspected for free at any launch ramp . All paddlers are encouraged to arrive clean , drained , and dry . Reclamation , its partners , and its Concessioners are making these changes to prevent the spread of golden mussels . The invasive species was recently identified in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and is the first known occurrence of golden mussels in North America . The species pose a significant immediate threat to the ecological health of the Delta and all waters of the state , water conveyance systems , infrastructure , and water quality .”

Rainbow trout are still biting on Lake Berryessa , but the recent storms have kept most boats and anglers off the water . Nate Kelsch of Big Nate ’ s Guide Service reported solid fishing on his latest trip to the lake . “ Today we had returning clients Brad and Bill out on Berryessa ,” said Kelsch . “ They wanted to learn a few more tricks to add to their own arsenal and they scored some donkeys .” “ We covered a lot of water , and trolled shad patterned spoons at at speeds up to 3.2 mph ,” Kelsch disclosed . “ These fish are smoking our presentations in the frigid 55 ° water and getting airborne right away , which is a lot of fun , but can definitely make landing them difficult at times . “ We landed some beautiful fish , lost some nice fish , released bass , and overall had a great day on the water ! If you ’ re interested in booking a trip , please shoot me a call or text and we will get you on the books .” Alex Osenko of Sweeney ’ s Sports in Napa in found solid trout fishing on his latest trolling adventure on Berryessa . He caught rainbow trout at 60 to 70 feet down using Speedy Shiner T-Bone Tackle spoons in orange and chartreuse . The other angler in the boat landed trout while fishing leadcore line down to 20 feet .
