Expect to hook holdover rainbows in the 12 to 18 inch range. Englebright is holding 72,534 acre feet of water, 104 percent of capacity and 109 percent of average.

Shore Anglers Battle Big, Bold Rainbows

BURSON – Shore anglers continue to battle big rainbows and lightning trout at the South Trout Pond and on the North and South Shores of Lake Camanche, but the reservoir remains closed to all boating except for rental boats.

One young angler, Isabel, landed a 9 lb. rainbow while fishing in the South Pond, the Lake Camanche Recreation Company reported. Another successful angler, David, caught a limit of lightning trout during a recent trip to the lake. Jorge and Adrian from Bakersfield recently landed some absolute giants at Lake Camanche, four trout in the 8-10 lb. class. These beasts were caught on a homemade black fly. Trout aren’ t the only fish being caught at Camamche. Another young angler, David, reeled in an awesome 6.3 lb. channel catfish at South Shore Lake Camanche while using nightcrawlers.

Weekly trout plants continue. During the latest plant, the lake management planted 1,000 lbs. of Rainbow Trout at the South Shore Ramp, 1,000 lbs. of Rainbow Trout at the South Shore Pond and 500 lbs. of Lightning Trout and 500 lbs. of Lightning Trout at the South Shore Pond.“ The boat launches at Camanche Reservoir’ s north and south shores are temporarily closed following the detection of the invasive Golden Mussel in the Sacramento – San Joaquin Delta.,” according to a statement from EBMUD.“ This closure will allow EBMUD to develop a specialized process tailored to address this specific new threat. DAVIS LAKE

It’ s Ice Out Time at Davis

PORTOLA – The ice is off Lake Davis and few anglers have reported on the fishing since the Maybe Ice Fishing Derby in February. However, you can expect the trout action to heat up with the warming weather we’ re seeing now.“ There is no ice on the lake now, but the boat ramps are still icy,” said Jim Graham a at the J & J Grizzly Store and Campground Resort.“ If I was going to go bank fishing now, I’ d probably head to Honker Bay and throw out nightcrawlers and PowerBait. There is still 2 to 3 inches of snow on the ground;” First place in the derby went to Zeb Wilcox of Janesville, California for catching a 21 inch rainbow weighing 3 pounds. Second place went to Aaron Crouther for catching a 20 inch 2.4 lb. German brown. Proceeds from this event benefitted Plumas County Search and Rescue. Davis is holding 77,873 acre feet of water, 94 percent of capacity and 135 percent of average.
