Trolling For Salmon? Halibut? Here’s How To Brine That Tray Bait! P ro-Cure Brine N’ Bite Pro-Cure Bait Brite is a unique bait brine that not only toughens and brightens your bait, but also adds proven bite stimulants and a full range of fish attractants to your bait. Scientific tests have proven even one molecule of this stimulant will have a positive effect on the olfactory receptors of most types of fish. One 20 oz. jar of Brine N’ Bite will cure up to 12 dozen average sized herring or anchovies. If you are brining frozen baits, always put them into the brine frozen. Allowing baits to thaw first, may cause spoilage. Mix The Whole Batch Pour all the brine powder into your mixing container. (A plastic, gallon milk jug works well.) Measure out 2 quarts of water (do not use tap water, use only river water, distilled water, well water, bottled water), then slowly add only enough of the water to make a thick paste. This will get all the brine wet. Stir, 27 March 15 - 29, 2019 VOL.38 • ISS. 6 and then gradually add the remainder of the water, until all lumps are dissolved. Add a few drops of Pro-Cure Bait Brite to your brine solution to make the scales super shiny and fresh looking! Depending on the size, most baits will cure up in 4 to 12 hours. Baits will continue to toughen if left in the brine. If they become too hard, or all “puckered” up, baits can be brought back by soaking them in a very watered down brine/freshwater solution. Once cured, your baits can be removed from solution and placed in plastic container or zip top bag in your bait cooler, or they can be bagged and frozen for use at a later date. The brine will help protect the baits from freezer burn, discoloration, etc. Used brine solution can be Rogue Jet Coastal For Big Water Performance! The highlights over the past two weeks have come in the form of surfperch and sturgeon. There are sturgeon cruising the sloughs and channels at the far southern end of the South Bay. Anglers experienced in fishing these waters have been hooking the occasional keeper while soaking ghost shrimp, herring fillets and pile worms. In reality fishing pressure has been very light recently. If you want to give sturgeon fishing a shot without traveling way down south cruise the channel edges off Alameda, Oakland and San Leandro. If you mark a fish or two set up on them and see if you can get them to go. Barred surfperch are starting to show up as they spread out along the bay shoreline for the upcoming spawning season. Anglers that make the effort have been hooking a few of these fish on shrimp baits and pile worms. Looking forward, wet winters generally point to solid spring striper and halibut action in the South Bay. Private boaters often find success trolling frozen bait for halibut before live bait is widely available. March is a good time to start prospecting for early halibut. width extended outboard bracket, extra large transom fish box with outside drain, starboard panoramic windshield wiper, welded downrigger brackets, zinc anode at transom, walk thru windshield step storage compartment, full length side trays, rod gripper above side trays, under floor fuel tank, transom storage area, stainless steel steering wheel, self draining bow, four 8” welded tie down cleats, carpet on both dashes, diamond plate doors on both fish boxes.
