HOT BITES...

S.F. BAY HALIBUT… Red hot fall halibut
fishing has erupted in San Francisco Bay. For
fish to 18 lbs anglers are drifting live bait in both
the central and northern parts of the bay.
2.
SAC RIVER KINGS… Salmon to 30 lbs are
being caught and limits are the rule. Flatfish
work early, roe works well later in the day.
3.
PYRAMID TROUT … Trollers are battling
cutthroat trout that weigh up to 17 lbs. The
most productive lures are either Flatfish or Apexs
in green color patterns.
4.
DELTA STRIPER BITE… The West Delta
striper bite is wide-open. Trollers, pluggers
and bait soakers are landing limits of bass that
range up to 20 lbs.

TAHOE MACKS… Limits of mackinaw in the
3 to 11 lb range are the rule. To hook up troll
rigged minnows teamed with blades or jig with
spoons 100 to 220 feet deep.

salmon while working the mouth of the river.
For success, slow troll rigged anchovies teamed
with green spinner blades.

BODEGA ROCKFISH… The hardheads
are on a solid bite. Shrimp flies are the top
producer, but metal jigs and soft plastic swimbaits
are drawing strikes too.

BERRYESSA SPOON BITE… Spooning
is going strong for bassers working around
baitfish schools. Most of the bass are spots, but
largemouths and smallmouths are showing too.
SLEEPERS...
9.
TWIN LAKES TROUT … Fall is in the air
in the Eastern Sierra and the Twins are
producing trout to 6.5 lbs. PowerBait, flies and
Rapalas are the top offerings.
10.
HALF MOON ROCKFISH… Limits are
the rule for Central Coast anglers chasing
rockfish. Shrimp flies tipped with Gulp! soft baits are
hooking both rockfish and lingcod.
11.
DEL VALLE CATS … Catfish season is
coming to an end, but the whiskerfish are still
biting. Soak mackerel or nightcrawlers for fish to 9 lbs.

ROLLINS LAKE BASS… Spotted and
smallmouth bass are on a solid fall blitz.
Crankbaits and topwaters are hooking up to a dozen
bass per day ranging up to 2 lbs.

KLAMATH STEELHEAD… November
should be a good month for steelhead.
Conventional anglers will score with both roe and
back trolled plugs.

TRINITY RIVER STEELHEAD…
Steelheading will get started on the Trinity
in October and peaks in late November. Both
fly and conventional anglers will get in on the
excitement.

AMERICAN RIVER STEELHEAD…
Steelhead season on the American River
below Nimbus Dam kicks off January 1. Roe and
Little Cleos work well.

SMITH RIVER STEELHEAD… Steelhead
fishing will get started on the Smith in
December and peak in January depending on the
conditions. Roe will produce trophies.
