Anglers are tipping their lures with shrimp scented corn . Most days , many anglers have limits in the boat by 11 in the morning at the latest .

Trout Take Center Stage

ROSEBERG - The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife reports that Applegate Reservoir has begun refilling and water levels are above Copper boat ramp and it is operational at this time .

Fishing has been good for larger trout trolling and bank anglers have done well near French Gulch . Slow trolling a Wedding Ring / worm combination , flashers or dodgers with bait , or wind-drifting worms should be effective . Trolling a lure like a flatfish or casting flies may work as well .

Bank fishing can be difficult at Applegate due to the steep shoreline , but the upper end should have some access and there has been recent success by bank anglers at the creek mouths . The surface temperature in the reservoir is 49 degrees .

Willow Lake has been stocked with legal

and larger-sized rainbow trout , and fishing should be good . The boat ramp is open , and Jackson County has a few campsites and cabins available . The lake is 95 percent full .

Saunders Lake was stocked last week with legal-size rainbow trout . Anglers reported fishing was good for the first week using PowerBait or flies .

Over 200 excess hatchery steelhead were released into Saunders Lake the past few weeks . Fishing regulations for these stocked steelhead in Saunders Lake are just like the trout regulations . Anglers can keep 1 fish over 20 inches per day and only need their fishing license .

Galesville Reservoir should have good numbers of trout from previous stockings . The reservoir has been stocked with over 3,500 trout this year . In addition to trout , the reservoir was stocked with Coho smolts until 2015 . Anglers have reported recent catches of Coho measuring up to 14-inches . Many people mistakenly think these fish are kokanee . The Coho smolts should be adipose fin-clipped , and please remember to release the ones smaller than 8-inches long .

Expo Pond has been stocked with legal- and larger-sized rainbow trout . Fishing for bass and other warm water fish is improving . Fishing for these species

will be best on the warmer afternoons .

Anglers can fish the pond , which is now within a RV Park developed by Jackson County by parking in the lot to the right as you drive in Gate 5 and walking to the pond . A day use fee to park here is $ 4 . An annual parking permit can be purchased from Jackson County Parks Department for $ 30 .

Butterfield Lake is scheduled to be stocked with 3,000 legal-size rainbow trout this week . Over 100 excess hatchery steelhead were released into Butterfield Lake the past month .

Bob Williams landed and released this beautiful 7 pound Delta largemouth while tossing a chatter bait this March .

Water Clarity And “ Turn Over ” Impact Angler Success

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE - Overall fishing at Tahoe is fair . Storms have created run off into the lake which is great overall , but in the short term the runoff has impacted the water clarity and the bite has suffered as a result . The lake is also turning over which isn ’ t help the situation either .

“ Earlier last week we got into some mixed bags . It was not red hot but a steady bite . By mid-week it was a struggle to even get a few macks from the deep water ,” said Mike Nielsen of Tahoe Topliners Guide Service .

“ The water is stained with lots of debris from rising levels and run off . Turn over has also had a negative effect on the fishing of late . Unlike most lakes , Tahoe does not turn over twice a year but only once a year or even once every couple years . With that occurring now we have super low water
