LIVERMORE –“ Boaters have been doing well and are catching their limits and fishing from the shore has been good,”

FRESHWATER

reported Joe Sullivan of the East Bay Regional Park District.“ Anglers have been catching limits between the 1st dock and the 2nd dock.”
For example, Richard Lim of Livermore caught his limit of trout fishing by the 1st dock while using PowerBait. Stan Nunes of Pleasanton also nailed his limit of trout, along with one bonus catfish, while fishing from his boat.
Mike Andrada of Pacifica caught two trout fishing off the Stanley dock while soaking PowerBait. Andrew Drake caught a three-pound trout fishing the eastside of Stanley shoreline with Powerbait.
The park district stocked Shadow Cliffs with 1000 pounds of rainbow trout the week of May 21.
The ponds of the Arroyo Del Vallle are yielding solid catch and release action on largemouth bass. For example, G. Rezendez of Union City hooked and released eight bass while using Senkos from a float tube in the Arroyo.
The water temperature is 64 degrees, depending on depth. The water clarity varies between 10-15 feet.
Some massive lake trout have been on the chomp at Lake Tahoe. This fish weighed a little under 20 pounds and was caught on May 12.

SHASTA / WHISKEYTOWN LAKES
Scattered Rainbows Blitz Spoons
REDDING- Trout, bass, kokanee … All these species and more are offering outstanding action for north valley anglers. Rainbows and bass are the main attraction at Shasta. For limits of kokanee, Whiskeytown is the spot.
At Shasta, the rainbows are spread out and feeding on shad. You’ ll find them from the surface to 60 feet deep. The main body and lower ends of the major river arms are providing the best action, but you can find rainbows far up the arms too.
Spoons, both medium size and large, are hooking rainbows. Top choices include Cripplures, ½ ounce Hum Dingers and ¼ ounce Kastmasters. Small crankbaits and minnow plugs like Rapalas and Yo- Zuri L Minnows are also working.
For bass, soft plastics are the top offering for numbers, but if you want to hook large bass, crankbaits, topwater plugs and spinnerbaits are the way to go early, late and anytime there is wind chop. Most of the spawning has wrapped up at this point and the bass are in a post spawn feeding mode.
The average bass is a one pound spot, but spots and largemouths to 4 pounds have been common.
Lake Shasta is 15 feet from the top and dropping about 6 inches per day.
At Whiskeytown Reservoir, outstanding kokanee fishing for fish to 17 inches continues.
The salmon are holding in the top 30 feet of the water column. Early in the morning work near the surface. Once the sun is on the water the fish drop down.
Successful anglers are using a variety of offerings. Pink Apex Lures are working well, as are Wedding Ring Spinners teamed with pink or orange Sling Blade dodgers. Paulina Peak hammered dodgers and hoochies are producing great results too.
If you are itching to get some kokanee, Whiskeytown is giving up limits.

STAMPEDE RESERVOIR
Kokanee Salmon Action Rages
TRUCKEE – If you want to catch kokanee salmon, it’ s hard to beat the hot bite at Stampede Reservoir that knowledgeable guides and anglers are experiencing now.
“ We started trolling from the boat dock and never made it to where I was planning on fishing,” said an excited James Netzel after his last fishing trip on Stampede.“ The fish were absolutely everywhere. The five anglers fishing with me kept 25 fish between 13
