Lopez Point , Point Sur Yield Limits of Rockfish and Lingcod

MOSS LANDING – If you want to catch rockfish and lingcod off Point Sur and Lopez Point , now ’ s the time to do it .

“ We had yet another great day way down the coast at Lopez Point ,” said Carol Jones at Kahuna Sportfishing on September 29 . “ We should be seeing some good weather more consistently , so we will be adding more trips down south .”

The 19 anglers bagged 65 copper rockfish , 38 lingcod up to 22 pounds , 35 assorted rockfish and 90 vermilion rockfish up to 8 pounds .

“ Finally some nice calm seas enabled us to get down the coast to Point Sur ,” said Jones . “ Our 23 anglers landed limits of rockfish and lingcod to 22 pounds on September 26 . An added attraction was some nice petrale sole ..”

The 23 anglers returned to the dock with 46 lingcod , 5 petrale sole and 230 rockfish .

The halibut bite continues to be good for the anglers fishing near the Cement Ship and up the Santa Cruz County Coast . “ The anglers are trolling and drifting squid and anchovies in 45-70 feet of water .,” said Todd Fraser of Bayside Marine in Santa Cruz .

“ The rockfish action has been productive at Franklin Point and Davenport . The wind and swell is down ,” Fraser said .
