Tuna, Wahoo And Bills
Delight Off East Cape
T
his year’s fishing season continues to impress,” exclaimed Eddie
Dalmau of Van Wormer Resorts. “We have stated this in past
reports, if you have not booked a trip this season, you need to get down
here and check out the action. Right now, we are seeing a good amount
of nice size tuna along with a steady wahoo bite and billfish bite. We
even saw our first spearfish of the season, which was a big one landed
last week on the cruiser Mahi Mahi.”
“The action is great as it usually is in the East Cape come summer and
fall. We have Blue Marlin, striped marlin, sailfish, roosters, yellowfin
tuna, wahoo, dorado, pargo and jacks. Lots of possibilities that will
keep anglers busy,” Dalmau concluded.

“
Marlin Highlight Cabo Fishing
B
ig blue marlin are being caught with one guy landing a 320 lb blue marlin in
a panga. The year the sailfish has also been pretty hot at the 95 spot and in that
area,” reported Captain Jerry Chapman of JC Sportfishing.
“It seems that ballyhoo and live bait are landing the sailfish and we think the fact
that we have extremely warm water in the area is bringing in the sailfish. The sailfish
have been here a lot longer this year due to warmer water in our area,” said Chapman.
“The striped marlin fishing is good also with most fleet boats hooking a couple a
day. So, if you’re into marlin and possibly a blue marlin now is the time to come to
Cabo and we expect it to remain good as long as the water stays warm,” predicted
Chapman.
“The tuna bite this past week was good with plenty of football size fish being
caught and even some big toads that tipped the scales at 140lbs to 180lbs. Inshore
action for tuna has been good also and it seems the fish are hitting king busters big
time. A couple miles off of Margarita down to the Light House and Pump House
area has been another good are for the tuna. Heck, grab a panga and do some inshore
angling for tuna as they are inshore in abundance,” Chapman exclaimed.
Anglers fishing out of the Hotel Buena Vista Beach Resort on the East Cape have
been landing some very nice tuna. This fish was caught on September 17.
