crab, and Captain Josh Stevens will be
running crab/rockfish combination trips
until December 31st and sanddab/crab
combination trips after New Year’s Day.
Powers will also be running the ‘dab/crab
trips.
Out of Lawson’s Landing at Dillon
Beach, Willie Vogler reported the big
surf has affected the rockfish bite as the
big ocean has been off-limits to Tomales
Bay-based fishermen, and the crabbing
inside of the bay has remained slow for
Dungeness crab, but red rock crab have

been abundant.
The structure along the shoreline has
been erased by the big swell, but surf
perch action should improve with the
arrival of normal-sized swells that will
bring in some new nooks and crannies.

Point Harbor, and the
swell brought in big
wave surfers from
around the globe
for the anticipated
Maverick’s Big
Surf Contest that is
announced with only
a few day’s prior
notice.
The winds were
anticipated to
be high, and the
tentative contest for
Monday, December
17 was postponed,
but both male and
female surfers were
out in the huge
waves on Tuesday
and Wednesday.

The window for
the contest to be
rescheduled will last
until March 1st, and
the event is a huge
