“When I am
fishing a frog or
flipping matted
vegetation, I
am throwing the
new X-TCB 8
Carrier Braided
Line form P-Line.
It is critical to
be stealthy with
both techniques,
and with P-line’s
new braid, you
can make longer
casts and it is
ultra quiet com-
ing through the
grass.”

GOLDEN GATE COMBOS… Crab and rockfish
combo trips are producing lots of excitement.
Shrimp flies tempt limits of rockfish and then it’s limits
of crabs.
4.
DELTA STURGEON… The sturgeon action is
very good in the lower end of the Sacramento
and upper reaches of Suisun Bay. Salmon roe works
best, but eel hooks fish too.
GOOD BETS…
5.
BODEGA BOTTOMFISH… Limits of rockfish
and crabs are the rule for Sonoma County
anglers. Both jigs and shrimp flies draw strikes from
bottomfish.
IT ALL ADDS UP
6.
PYRAMID TROUT… The surface temperature
is dropping and as a result the fishing is
improving steadily. Trollers are doing the best, but
bank anglers are starting to get in on the action.
TO MORE FISH IN THE BOAT.
7.
COLLINS TROUT … Trout plants are underway
and anglers are hooking up. Rapalas and
Kastmasters are working for trollers, while bankies
score with PowerBait.
8.
TRINITY STEELHEAD… Solid numbers of
steelhead are in the Trinity. To hook up anglers
are drifting roe, worms and crickets, or back trolling
crankbaits.
SLEEPERS…
9.
NEW MELONES TROUT… The rainbows are
holding in the top 20 feet as they assault schools
of shad. To hook up troll Speedy Shiners and minnow
plugs from 2 to 3.5 mph.
10.
TAHOE MACKS… Limit style mackinaw
fishing is on tap for fish ranging 3 to 6 lbs. To
hook up troll rigged minnows teamed with blades 100
to 220 feet deep.
11.
HALF MOON BAY ROCKFISH… Limits of
rockfish and crabs are the rule for anglers
departing from Pillar Point Harbor. Shrimp flies armed

South Bay and this sparks the sturgeon action. Soak
shrimp and herring baits for success.
