COYOTE – Striped bass
fishing is “phenomenal” at
San Luis Reservoir for anglers
drifting live jumbo minnows,
reported Alex Tran at Coyote
Bait and Tackle.
“Boat anglers have picked up
a lot of stripers over 20 pounds
lately, addition to smaller fish
up to 12 pounds,” said Tran.
“The fish are suspended at 50
to 65 feet deep, so your best
bet is to fish the minnows on
Carolina rigs on line counter
reels. The top areas to target
are Portuguese Cove and
Dinosaur Point.”
Shore anglers are also
landing schoolie stripers while
fishing anchovies, shad and
pileworms, noted Tran.
“Shore fishing is great for
anglers tossing bloodworms,
pileworms and shad in the
O’Neill Forebay,” he stated.
“Trollers are also bagging

Minnows.”
Calero remains the only local
lake open to boating, Tran said
boaters are catching largemouth
bass averaging 1 to 3 ponds
and going up to 3 pounds while
throwing out spinnerbaits and Rat-
L-Traps.
For crappie, he advised anglers
to fish crappie jigs in the morning
hours at Uvas Reservoir. A few
bass are also hitting drop shot
rigs, spinnerbait, jerkbaits and
tubes at Uvas.
“We’re not hearing many fishing
reports on bass, crappie or
catfish at Anderson and Coyote
reservoirs,” added Tran.
- Dan Bacher of rainbow trout the week of November
18-22. The park district stocked 700
pounds of rainbows and 500 pounds of
Mt. Lassen Lightning Trout the week of
November 25-29.
The water temperature is 58 degrees,
depending on depth and the water clarity
seems to vary between 10-15 feet.
“Boaters are catching limits early in
the morning,” said Edward Culver of the
East Bay Regional Park District. “Mario
Rodriques was fishing off his boat and
caught his limit of trout in the afternoon.
Stan Nunes of Castro Valley also landed
his limit of trout. Duc Hoang was boating
with friend and they caught limits of trout,
too.”
Jon Hickey landed a limit of trout,
topped by an 8 pounder, while fishing
lures by the second dock. Dave Mix
bagged an 18-inch trout fishing down by
the boat launch.
