FRESHWATER REPORTS:
CONTINUED FROM PG 21
OROVILLE LAKE
cont.
Very few anglers have reported back
on the bass or king salmon fishing lately.
Anglers should use drop shot rigs, tubes
and small Keitech swimbaits for success
on spotted bass and an occasional
largemouth. Trollers can use hoochies
and other lures, tipped with anchovy
strips, behind dodgers.
Oroville is holding 3,537,577 acre feet
of water, 57 percent of capacity and 94
percent of average. The lake level is
783.82 feet in elevation.

RENO - “The weather has been crazy
to say the least,” related Sam Shallow of
Deep Water Guide Service. “The forecasts
have been terrible. You just have to go
and see for yourself right now.”
“When you can get out, the fishing has
been great! We have been working the
drop offs along the shore line with our
spinning lures and others. Zig zagging
with hard turns has really helped. These
fish like it erratic! The lake is producing
a lot of large trout this year. Water
temperatures are still in the low fifties
and the clarity can be murky after these
big winds. Work the color line when you
do get into that off-color water,” Shallow
advised.
If you want to fish Pyramid Lake, but
don’t know anything about the lake it
would be wise to hire a guide and Captain
Sam Shallow is a top choice. For more
information or to book your trip, give
Captain Sam a call at (530) 277-0288.

Jason McMahan of Union City caught
his personal record largest trout weighing
eight-and-a-quarter pounds. He was using

Kiene’s Fly Shop
reports mixed results
for fly anglers visiting
Pyramid. Some
customers report that
they have done well
and others have been
skunked. A balance

way to go.
