Boaters can also catch and release black bass now while using wacky-rigged Senkos , drop shot rigs with Robo Worms , swimbaits and lipless crankbaits . Lake Camanche is holding 214,000 acre feet of water , 51 percent of capacity and 75 percent of average . The South Shore main ramp is open . Now you can use this main ramp next to the store , instead of the low water ramp . Each year , 60,000 pounds of trout are stocked between October and June , each weighing at least a pound up to trophy sized 8 pounders . Largemouth , spotted and smallmouth bass , channel catfish , crappie , bluegill and other sunfish also provide top-notch fishing at the lake . Shoreline access is available to anglers at both shores . There is also shoreline access upriver , only available by boat .

Catfish & crappie come alive while trout still accessible along the shoreline .

OREGON HOUSE - They say it ’ s still Spring but it feels like Summer Time ! The average surface temperature has been flirting with 70 ° F which puts the breaks on trout planting until fall when temperatures …. fall . That being said there are still plenty of fish in the lake and despite the heat we are still seeing decent shore action for trout . There ’ s still a few bass caught every day but they ’ re definitely settling down . Which is to be expected . After the spawn you can find bass all over the lake , and more frequently as we get into summer folks out trolling for trout will encounter a roaming bass .

Andrew Marlan is learning to fish the lakes in South Dakota and learned that smallmouth bass like tube baits just as much as they like them in California .

Catfish have entered the scene and to prove it ’ s not just a fluke , Eric Smith joined Jason Souza to catch a pair of big cats , 6.5lbs and 7.5lbs using chicken livers , a traditional catfish delight . Now is also the time to find crappie and other panfish in the shadows , among the rocks & brush , under the docks and under your boat . Sit still in 8 to 20 ft . of water and glance over the side . rainbows near the dam on PowerBait and I suppose the other guy caught one- Looks like a good team ! Pete Henderson from Lincoln , caught a limit of trout on Speedy Shiners out in the middle of the lake . David Rodriguiz and friend were out trolling Humdingers back and forth in front of the dam where they reeled in a double limit ! V

Hossfly and Pete trolled all morning in the middle of the lake with speedy shiners , and while they didn ’ t catch a limit they didn ’ t get skunked either and took home a little more than a couple smiles : The Walrath family of Ukiah caught 10 trout between the four of them , all near the dam on all colors of PowerBait . Daryl Johnson & Doug Taylor of Roseville teamed up to bring in a 6lb trout using a KastMaster up on the right branch of the north fork : Patrick Farley caught a limit which included a chunky 5 lb rainbow trout mostly he said “ on chartreuse PowerBait ” Lia & David caught a double limit but we didn ’ t write down what they were fishing with- come solve the mystery ! Finally Jordan and The Zizileuskas showed off 15 trout , all caught on PowerBait fishing from the “ secret spot ” along the shoreline . You know where that is right ? All the kids are talking about it . As conditions continue to warm up , expect trout to move further off shore but at least for now the shoreline is still viable . At the same time pay attention to the increase in catfish activity in the coves and the crappie in the shadows .

Trollers , Bank Anglers Pull In Husky Bows

PORTOLA – Both shore anglers and boat fishermen are experiencing solid trout fishing at Lake Davis . Most of the fish are holdover rainbows in the 17 to 23 inch class . Ed Dillard of Dillard ’ s Guided Fishing reported a good day of fishing on Lake Davis on his latest trip to the lake .
