Spotted Bass Lead Summer Angling Parade

OROVILLE – Reports on both black bass and king salmon have been very scarce with the summer heat that has kept most anglers off the water at Lake Oroville . The few anglers who have been out have been chasing bass . “ I hit Lime Saddle last night from

I ’ d like to say bottom baits were it , but I got just one drop shot fish . The rest were caught on 2.8 Keitechs on Underspins . The fish were holding on steep ledges , main channel points , and they were clearly still feeding on pond smelt .’” “ The backs of coves are empty mostly . Once you get a bunch feeding at ledges and points , they ’ re pretty angry buggers ,” he reported . The Bidwell Canyon , Spillway , Loafer Creek , Lime Saddle and Enterprise boat ramps are all open to launching , according to the Lake Oroville State Recreation Area . The Foreman Creek , Nelsom Bar , Stringtown and Vinton Gulch car top ramps are also open to boat launching . Lake Oroville is holding 3,403,661 acre feet of water , 96 percent of capacity and 137 percent of average .

Limit Kokanee Fishing Continues

IONE- Limits of kokanee are the reward for anglers trolling deep at Pardee Lake . Just ask Nate Kelsch of Big Nate ’ s Guide Service about his most recent trips to the Mother Lode reservoir . “ Today we had Brian , Joey , and David out for some kokanee fishing on Pardee . We hooked up 60 + fish today and these guys kept 30 kokanee , 3 full limits , and we escaped before the heat set in !” he stated .

“ The fish were a bit finicky , and we had to swap out a lot of gear to figure out what they wanted ; ultimately it was Paulina Peak Performance dodgers and spinners at depths from 20 to 40 ft .
