my clients have been getting some salmon at
least,” said Weese. “I’ve been starting out the
morning on the Feather River and we’ve been
getting anywhere from 1 to 3 fish there. Once
the bite dies on the Feather, I move over to the
Sacramento and fish a 10 mile stretch near
Los Molinos where we average about 1 fish
per day. Plugs are working best for me on the
Sacramento.”
“The water conditions on the Sac are
excellent, with good flows and temperatures
that range from 55 to 58 degrees. Hopefully
more salmon will show soon,” Weese
proceeded.
“I’ve mixed a few trout trips in with my
salmon fishing and the action has been great
up near Redding. I’ve been using live crickets
to hook the trout,” Weese continued.
RIO VISTA
Striper Fishing Heats Up
RIO VISTA - Striped bass fishing in the Rio
Vista region continues to improve as fall inches
closer.
Anglers braving winds and fishing big water

found striped bass on both the Sacramento
and San Joaquin River, according to the
pro staff at Fisherman’s Warehouse in
Sacramento.
“The wind is always going to be a
problem, but the guys going out are finding
them, and quick. Trolling along the west
bank of the Sacramento River from Sandy
Beach down to Collinsville is a good bet,
and from Prisoner’s Point to the mouth of
Three Mile is also productive,” tipped Craig
Kamikawa.
Plug casters also found action, though
spotty. “It always seems like when the bay
and ocean bite dies, within a week a lot of
the stripers are already on their way up the
Delta,” said Bubs Fong.
“There’s always the big groups of smaller
fish balled up deep and eating bait, but
the bigger fish usually up on shallow flats
looking for something big to eat,” he added.
“Give it another two to three weeks and the
bigger fish should be in.”
Sturgeon fishing and interest was slow,
according to the staff.”
